Wydawnictwo Krytyki Politycznej – The Political Critique Publishing House – is an independent publisher significantly shaping the public discourse in Poland. They have published numerous award-winning and renowned books in the fields of philosophy, economy, history, political sociology, and theory of art and culture. The publishing house is actively engaged in the tradition of the Polish intelligentsia.
My clients are experts in the book market, with a good understanding of e-commerce with respect to their products, and with more than 10 years of experience in the field of book publishing. They needed more up-to-date, faster solutions, convenient for the readers and easy to handle by their employees: e-commerce functionalities, which would allow them to increase book sales in various formats (audiobooks, e-books). They also needed a higher number of well-designed tools to present their products (book catalogues, book series, extended product pages) and, last but not least, a web layout design which would highlight the top quality of the published works.
The new version of the website is a comprehensive portal, where strong emphasis is put on good user experience practices. I paid a lot of attention to information hierarchy, flow construction, and adequate content visualization, encouraging the publisher to use minimalist design reflecting their brand’s values. I also made sure the sales process was designed well, constantly referring to needs of the target user group of the publishing house, namely: readers with high cultural competencies.
